Each year, incoming San Francisco Theological Seminary students have the opportunity to “shop” for FREE gently used furniture and other household items that have been donated by the community. Julia Flynn Siler is a Marin-based New York Times best-selling author and journalist, and will be speaking on her most recent book, White Devil's Daughters: The Women Who Fought Slavery in San Francisco's Chinatown, in which San Francisco Theological Seminary plays a prominent role. White Devil's Daughters is a revelatory history of the trafficking of young Asian girls that flourished in San Francisco during the first hundred years of Chinese immigration (1848-1943) and an in-depth look at the “safe house” that became a refuge for those seeking their freedom.
